Sarah Buckley is a NZ-trained GP, mother of four homeborn children aged 9 to 19 and currently a full-time writer on pregnancy, birth and parenting.
She is author of the bestselling book Gentle Birth, Gentle Mothering, with a new edition published in 2009.
Sarah's work critiques current practices in pregnancy, birth and parenting from the widest possible perspectives, including scientific, evolutionary, psychological and personal.
She encourages us all to be well informed, to listen to our hearts and instincts, and to take our rightful place as the real experts in our bodies, our babies and our families.
Sarah has experienced almost everything that she writes about, including instinctive pregnancy; ecstatic birth; attachment parenting, co-sleeping, long-term breastfeeding (Sarah has been pregnant, breastfeeding, or both for more than 15 years), lotus birth, raising babies without nappies/diapers, and gentle discipline.
Sarah's personal interests and hobbies include yoga and meditation, which she has practiced for over 20 years, as well as camping, bushwalking/hiking, swimming, world music, and dancing.
She lives with her family in Brisbane, Australia.
