how to meet other homeschooling families

Can anyone suggest the best ways to connect with homeschooling communities? Forums, websites, facebook/google+ groups ...

Any others here from Invercargill? My kids are still a few years off having to enrol in school but I really want to spend a lot of time looking into the homeschool option & thought it might help to meet some others who are doing it.

Well, the place I met most friends is the NZUnschoolers mailinglist:

both supportive people from all-over, and friends right here in Wellington. Mind you, this is unschooling, so if what you had in mind was more school-at-home, this might not be for you. (It isn't radical unschooling, though, plenty in the unschooling groups use curriculum - when it seems suitable - and will guide the children in various ways, just following children's interests and not sticking to schedules for example).

Is there a local home educator's network nearby? That's also been useful for us.

Hi, I'm currently living in Australia and wanting to homeschool/unschool. It is an option, that we may be moving to Ohakune.
Does anyone know of any groups that have members in that area?
